If new requirements are released, which requirements should I use?

The requirements listed in this book [Boy Scout Requirements] might not match those in the Boy Scout Handbook and the merit badge pamphlets because this publication is updated only on an annual basis. Any number of merit badge pamphlets may be revised throughout the year; others are simply reprinted until a revision becomes necessary.

The requirements in this book [Boy Scout Requirements] are the official requirements of the Boy Scouts of America. However, if a Scout has already started working on a merit badge when a new edition for that pamphlet is introduced, he should should continue to use the same merit badge pamphlet to earn the badge. He should fulfill the requirements listed in the pamphlet he was using when he began. In other words, the Scout need not start all over again with the new pamphlet and possibly revised requirements."

Do you have the merit badge pamphlets available on-line?

No. They are protected by copyright law. Instead our goal is to provide resource links for every requirement of every award. See Citizenship in the Nation or Radio Merit Badges for examples. Here are tips for building Merit Badge Pamphlet Libraries.

What are the latest merit badge pamphlet revision dates?

The BSA publishes a list of the latest Merit Badge Pamphlet Revision Dates in the back of every new merit badge pamphlet or requirements book. We include this on the Merit Badge Worksheets page.

Is there anything I can do to help more Scouts earn merit badges?

Yes. Become a Merit Badge Counselor in your local council. Also, please help us with our goal of providing resource links for every requirement of every award.
