    Requirements

If you have the official requirements, please e-mail them to me. Thanks, —RWSmith (Bureaucrat), 13:22, August 11, 2011 (EDT)

We have the requirements, but cannot post them until September 7, 2011, per request from BSA. —RWSmith (Bureaucrat), 12:42, August 24, 2011 (EDT)

    Chess release date delayed

Chess was originally to be released earlier this month. However, I learned (click here for details) on August 13th, that, due to a printing error, the entire inventory of Chess merit badge pamphlets had to be scrapped; and, fortunately, this was caught in the final quality control check (just prior to distribution). As quoted on the article page, we received and posted the following (in part) on August 15th:

Boy Scouts of America to Introduce New Chess Merit Badge...
    • September 7, 2011, Wednesday – Chess requirements and MB patch posted on Scouting.org
    • September 10, 2011, Saturday – Pamphlets and patch available in Scout Shops and at ScoutStuff.org
    — BSA Innovations and Research, August [15,] 2011

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. —RWSmith (Bureaucrat), 12:42, August 24, 2011 (EDT)

    Worksheet errors

Just noticed at the top of the worksheet, it says "Robotics" instead of "Chess". I don't know who fixes this, but just want to get the info out there.

Oops! Thought we fixed that already... will do so now. Thanks, —RWSmith (Bureaucrat), 13:55, September 15, 2011 (EDT)

Syllabus needed for Chess merit badge class (summer camp)

Image:Arr r.png NOTE: This topic has been moved from Tom BTalk:Chess. RWSmith (Bureaucrat), 12:58, March 12, 2012 (EDT)

I have been asked by a council to prepare a syllabus for the Chess merit badge class for summer camp... I am hoping someone has already prepared one and would be willing to share.

It could be beneficial if meritbadge.org had syllabuses for the merit badges like it has worksheets. :) Thanks, —Tom B, March 8, 2012

Tom, take a look at Summer Camp Merit Badge Program Outlines. Probably a bit out-of-date, but should give you an idea. —RWSmith (Bureaucrat), 15:19, March 25, 2012 (EDT)
