Crew Committee Chairman

The Crew Committee Chairman is appointed by the chartered organization and registered as an adult leader of the BSA. The crew committee chairman appoints and supervises the crew committee and crew leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Organize the committee to see that all functions are delegated, coordinated and completed.
  • Completes and maintains the crew's program capability inventory (PCI).
  • Secures equipment, facilities and program resources.
  • Seeks help from the Unit Commissioner, District Committee and other Troops and crews.
  • Maintain a close relationship with the chartered organization representative and the Crew Advisor.
  • See that unit leaders and committee members have training opportunities.
  • Interpret national and local policies to the unit.
  • Work closely with the Crew Advisor in preparing Crew Committee meeting agendas.
  • Call, preside over, and promote attendance at monthly unit committee meetings and any special meetings that may be called.
  • Ensure unit representation at monthly Venturing roundtables.
  • Helps secure top-notch, trained consultants for the crew program.
  • Arrange for charter review and recharter annually.
  • Plan the charter presentation program.
  • Supports the policies of the BSA.

Qualification

“ Qualification. Adults citizens, or adult non-citizens who reside within the country, may register with the Boy Scouts of America in any capacity if they agree to abide by the Scout Oath or Promise and the Scout Law, to respect and obey the laws of the United States of America, and to subscribe to the precepts of the Declaration of Religious Principle. All leaders must be 21 years of age or older, except assistant Scoutmasters, assistant den leaders, assistant Cubmasters, assistant Webelos den leaders, and assistant Varsity Scout coaches, who must be 18 or older. ”
