![]() | 2010 Historic (a.k.a. "Centennial") Merit Badges "Data Entry" Deadline: With the deadline of December 31, 2010 for Scouts to earn the historical merit badges, the decision has been made to allow additional time thereafter for entering them into the ScoutNET system. The deadline for doing so has been set as March 31, 2011. This applies to those at the local council who enter advancement based on forms submitted, or unit management software file uploads provided. It also applies to unit advancement processors using Internet Advancement. The merit badges affected are: Carpentry, Pathfinding, Signaling, and Tracking. This is not intended as an extension of time to earn the badges; only as additional time for data entry. Troops can submit advancement reports for Historic Merit Badges earned by Scouts before 12/31/2010 through March 31, 2011. — Announcement from the National Council office. |

10th Annual Aviation Merit Badge at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics
NOTICE: If you are looking to register for the "10th Annual Aviation Merit Badge at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics" event, you may have been accidentally (and incorrectly) directed by a third party (not us, or meritbadge.info) to register for this event here at MeritBadgeDotOrg. But, of course, that's not the case. MeritBadgeDotOrg, as you probably know, is a wiki.
Meritbadge.info is website designed and run by volunteer Scouters (just like us) that provides FREE registration services for Scouting-related events. Although not affiliated with the MeritBadge Networks, we certainly applaud them for their efforts. —RWSmith (Bureaucrat), 17:29, October 1, 2010 (EDT)

Bugling and Music Merit Badges
![]() | NOTICE: On June 2, 2010, Scouting Magazine's 'Cracker Barrel' (online blog) reported that the Bugling merit badge would be officially retired as of December 31, 2010; and, that the Music merit badge requirements would be modified (effective January 1, 2011) to include Bugling skills. (We further stated here, "Those wishing to earn Bugling need to obtain a Blue Card and begin working on it prior to December 31, 2010. In doing so, you may keep working on it –even after it has been retired– until you: A) complete the badge, or B) turn 18, whichever comes first. (You cannot start this badge after it has been retired.") UPDATE: On August 4, 2010, Scouting Magazine's 'Cracker Barrel' (online blog) then reported that the National council's previous decision to retire Bugling has been rescinded. (As a result, though not specified, we are assuming that the Music merit badge requirements will also not change.) Editor's note: Music & Bugling will continue to share the same merit badge pamphlet. |

![]() | Sorry folks, MeritBadge.Net was temporarily down... We exceeded our monthly bandwidth allocation. We are looking into getting a little extra bump in bandwidth to get us through the end of the month; but, depending on our hosting provider, we may be down until just after midnight this coming Saturday, May 1st, when our bandwidth meter resets. I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.—RWSmith (Bureaucrat), 17:11, April 29, 2010 (EDT) |

- wiki Sysops, which can be any BSA-registered adult Scouter and a registered member of MeritBadge.Net (and meet the requirements for Sysops).
