"retire"

FM 31-21.5, the US Army Drill and Ceremonies manual, in section 15-8, uses "retire" to refer to removing the flags from the front of the room at the conclusion of an event. That would seem to pretty authoritatively rule out reserving "retire" for taking flags out of service. Jordan Brown 00:17, June 7, 2013 (EDT)
