Requirement 7 differs from what is currently posted
The official requirements are available on a link at: http://blog.scoutingmagazine.org/2010/04/official-geocaching-merit-badge-requirements-released.html.
A quick scan shows that there is bit more to requirement 7 than what is listed here - you need ot choose one of the caches and find it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mmontes (talk • contribs) 30 April, 2010. (Please, sign and date your posts on talk pages.)
- I made the change based on the official BSA reference you provided. Thank you for pointing this out! —RWSmith (Bureaucrat), 19:30, May 1, 2010 (EDT)
Geocaching MB worksheet
I have created a Geocaching worksheet for scouters to use. How do i upload it to the Geocaching page? I do not understand the directions, or it does not allow me to upload.--Soberholt 12:55, May 3, 2010 (EDT)
- Send it to me via e-mail so I can see why the system is refusing the file. (I'll send you an e-mail to which you can reply and attach the file.) —RWSmith (Bureaucrat), 13:29, May 3, 2010 (EDT)
- Thanks, I'll do it this evening.--Soberholt 13:58, May 3, 2010 (EDT)
- Worksheet? I see that someone had a worksheet they were tring to upload, but it doesn't look lik the worksheet has been updated yet. Does anyone have access to this worksheet? Regards, Christian
Geocaching Requirement 5 d Resource
I located what I think is a good link to do a hands on lesson in UTM and exercise demonstrating to Scouts how to locate UTM coordinates. I pulled down a UTM exercise (one requirement for Geocaching is to review the UTM coordinate system). Here is the link to the exercise: http://maptools.com/UsingUTM/UTMexercise.html
Two notes on the UTM exercise 1) For the UTM grid tool -I took a 'resourceful' approach -I printed a UTM Grid on paper (same scale), got plastic report presentation covers and just traced it -then the Scouts could place that on top of the UTM exercise paper and work on mapping the locations. 2) On the UTM Exercise itself, the answer key -I think the first set of coordinates is mapped wrong -the ones 943 265 -but then again I am not an expert on UTM. .--JSturgis 06:00, July 30, 2010 (CST)
