Any info regarding Robotics Merit Badge

I signed up to be a merit badge counselor for the Robotics merit badge. I'm hoping to get as much preliminary info as possible to better understand the requirements before it's official release. Any assistance would be appreciated. --Jreid 12:05, February 18, 2011 (EST)

    Robitics Merit Badge

I also am eagerly seeking advance information regarding the Robotics MB. I am hoping to get my scouts to get started on this during the Month of May just before Summer Camp. I need to understand the requirement so we can begin to search for a BSA counselor to conduct the MB. --Bestsoilman

SO I am the CTO for and we have the Robotics Merit Badge on the schedule for Space Jam 5, August 5-7th 2011 at SJ-5 in Rantoul IL, we rent out the whole Rantoul Airport and the Chanute Aerospace Museum, talk with Astronauts on the ISS, and so much more...

Any how, We had: Menard 18V drill/drivers and TV IR remotes, for power, motor, transmission, recharger, MosFet, and more... and a TV IR remote for a controller...

But Now, We have 30 to 40 Lego Mindstorm NXT Kits, Purdue PhD types and Lego Pro's coming to help over 100 Scouts get this merit badge... this will be a ton better then 10 Scouts with the old plan of Drill/Drivers... We even have a diVinci robotic Surgeon coming to talk about careers!!! and I am sure we will be asking the ISS crew about how they are using their robot in space.

We have a network of 20+ workstations (Ubunto) and a couple servers at Space Jam... so each of the Scouts will have their own workstation for programming... Plus some laptops coming...

I was thinking you need Electronic, Metalworking, Computers, and maybe Radio under your belt... I am all for a Submersible Robotics, perhaps Scuba Diving MB too... BRING IT ON with the Lego Mindstorm kits, this will be a ton easier...
