One of the best and most unique parts of the BSA Advancement Program are the Merit Badges. Check out the requirements and links at the Merit Badge Worksheets. To learn more, check out Merit Badge Counseling, Recommending Merit Badge Counselors, and Merit Badge Counselor Orientation.
Many of the most often asked questions are answered in the Advancement Policies.
There are also many resources for Merit Badge Counseling. If you have an idea for a new merit badge or would like to suggest changes, take a look at Submitting New Merit Badge Ideas.
The Scouting program it is constantly being updated. Paul Wolf at usscouts maintains a listing of rank and merit badge changes dating back over decade. Also check out Steve Henning's Merit Badge List dating back to 1911.
In addition to requirements for Ranks and Merit Badges, there are also general Advancement Policies. Additional resources are available for Youth Members With Special Needs.
Advancement in Summer Camp provides many opportunities. A letter on Advancement for First Year Campers was written based on a request. If you have young Scouts, you may find it helpful. Also, check out the information we have on Merit Badge Pamphlet Libraries. It may surprise you.
The Aims and Methods of Scouting are the core of the Scouting program. Included are the Scout Oath, Law, Motto, Slogan, and the Outdoor Code.
Did you ever wonder how many Scouts have earned First Aid Merit Badge? How about Leatherwork? Or Beekeeping? The answers to this and other questions are available on the Merit Badges Earned pages.
