{{Expand|width|leftmargin}} is the format for the optional variables 1 and 2. The default values are width = 80% and leftmargin=10%. Expand also adds the article to Category:Articles that need to be expanded. Articles tagged with this template are automatically added to Category:Articles that need to be expanded.
