MeritBadge.Org is the free Scouting Wiki dedicated to providing advancement resources for Scouts and leaders. In 1995, Michael Kauffmann (Optimist) began listing Boy Scout advancement resources on his first Bulletin Board System (BBS), "The Opticon", which grew quickly; and, with the advent of the World-Wide Web, the Scouting portion was spun off to become MeritBadge.Com; which, in 2007, evolved into MeritBadge.Org.

Today, MeritBadge.Org provides over 100,000 visitors each month with:

Merit Badges began in England in 1908 as Badges of Honour. Even today, many requirements are changing for 2008 and 2009.
