| MeritBadge.Org is the free Scouting Wiki dedicated to providing advancement resources for Scouts and leaders. In 1995, Michael Kauffmann (Optimist) began listing Boy Scout advancement resources on his first Bulletin Board System (BBS), "The Opticon", which grew quickly; and, with the advent of the World-Wide Web, the Scouting portion was spun off to become MeritBadge.Com; which, in 2007, evolved into MeritBadge.Org.
Today, MeritBadge.Org provides over 100,000 visitors each month with:
- 942 main articles and 8,420 pages with 2,038 documents and images available for downloading
- 14,988 volunteers have made 43,537 updates to those pages
- Nearly 200 worksheets for Merit Badges, Webelos Activity Badges, and Cub Scout Belt Loops and Pins
- Thousands of resource links for nearly 300 Ranks, Merit Badges, and Awards
- Program materials from Tiger, Wolf, and Bear Cub Scouts to Webelos Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, and Venturing
