:::Back then, you had to muck about with a new skin, but you can set the footer links in Local Settings. Why move them to the Main namespace? It seems like they're just the legal things that you want on every page but don't want people to really bother with. And, yes, I know this discussion is very old, but it hasn't been archived, so I presume it's just sitting around here. BartHumphries 03:27, February 4, 2013 (EST)

:(In Reply for Optimist) Wayne, Whenever you're getting a banned message (or other similar user-specific problems that you know you shouldn't be seeing), the first step is to clear your browser's temporary internet files cache and/or cookies. This will reset things on your end and, if the problem is on your end, this will fix the problem. If the problem is on the server's end, i.e., the server is down or the phpBB is corrupted, you'll still unable to login, but, not banned. —RWSmith (Bureaucrat), 20:31, April 26, 2008 (EDT) P.S. :Ok, the website is registered to GoDaddy.com I presume they're also your host. So, log in, then click on the My Account in the top left corner. Click "Web Hosting" and the table will drop down, revealing your hosted websites. Click the green Launch button over on the right by the meritbadge.org website. Ignore the Quick Search box on the page and instead click the little blue "Show all" link under the Popular Apps heading. You'll be sent to a new page that'll say something about Hosting Connection at the top -- there's a black box to the right with an orange Search button. Type "mediawiki" (without the quotes) and click the orange search button. Mine is up to date, but yours will probably say something about not being up to date. Go ahead and set it to update 10 minutes later, then walk away for the next 5 hours or so. When you come back, your Mediawiki installation will be updated. Any extensions that you installed will remain -- they will most likely need to be updated and some may no longer work. Other than your spam blocking extension, I haven't noticed any extensions so it probably won't be much of a problem -- let me know if you have any non-standard extensions installed. You're using a custom skin, so you probably want to back that up and you may have to recreate it (seriously, 1.12 is old, I could make a new skin that looks the same if this one breaks, but a lot of things have changed since then). Take a look at LocalSettings.php -- I'd back up your current LocalSettings, grab a new default LocalSettings, walk through setting that up then apply any new LocalSettings commands that you were using before -- just check out what (if anything) has changed. While you're changing things, I reccomend installing the Widget extension so that you can easily put in the YouTube widget, which is just amazing. ::Hi Bart. Thanks for the info but the site is not hosted on GoDaddy. While there are several reasons the software hasn't been upgraded, the most significant was some security issues which occurred during changes in MediaWiki made around 2011. This site has suffered from attacks and those security problems would have left us open to more of them. We will be checking into updating the MediaWiki version after we get done updating the new year info from the BSA. Thanks again for your feedback.
