:Wow. Thanks for noticing and taking the time to say so. I'm humbled. We've really got a great core team of Sysops; but, this whole wiki thing is new to us, myself included. The site is new; --Thank you! Oh, wise and mighty Optimist!-- hence the low vandal rate. But, we've been getting hammered with the bots; so, I expecting things in the admin department's duties will be picking up, soon... ==Two Points==
+
-
First off, the page for Citizenship in the Community. I have a question. Do we need to have it recommend R rated movies? It could lead to problems later. Second, you reverted my removal of two links on the Hiking page. I removed one because it is broken and leads to an error, and I edited the other to make its destination clearer. Why did you revert it? Sorry if you had a good reason, I'm relatively new to the wiki so I was just wondering if those were like that for a reason. Epmatsw 18:33, June 18, 2007 (EDT)

It's just shorthand to display a template with a link. Like. . .I create Template:Foo; I'd use foo to show users how to use it on a page, and give them a link to the actual template so they can read the documentation. Is that what you meant? == Discontinued MB List ==

Around a week and a half ago I proposed an idea for creating a list of discontinued merit badges and such and you said you'd get back to me in a few days or so about it. I was just wondering if I can go ahead and send you some stuff I've made now or hold off for a bit longer. Thanks; please respond asap. Take care. :Don't worry about it; get to it when you can. I really can only do work with MBO during the weekends anyways, due to school and all. Nice template- see the stuff I wrote down. == Pages that need creation ==
+
-

+
-
RW, is there a list of pages that need creation/large work? While I am an experienced Wikipedia guy, I find that working on a relatively new project is a bit different. I guess I just need a direction to focus my energies on. Thanks. —ScouterSig 11:10, September 13, 2007 (EDT)
+
-
:Funny you should mention that. Every time I "find" a page to create, and go over to Wikipedia to see how it's done... not just on the surface; but, really digging deep into the bowels of the thing... I find three more "things" that we need. Good grief!
+
-

+
-
:I will say this, though... I like to take only what we need (from Wikipedia) for our purposes here, though... i.e., K.I.S.S. For example, we don't need four levels of User warnings; and we certainly don't need 50 different kinds.
+
-

+
-
:I've unintentionally been putting it off; but, let's try to get some "collaboration" going on here... Templates, Help, Portals(?), Userboxes, Community portal, etc... where Contributors can share ideas, help each other out, etc. Contributors need to understand that there are two ways to help out:
+
-
:*First, there's the Main namespace—where everything Scouting-related goes. There are already lots of articles in there that are in serious need of attention... e.g., Stubs, Expand, Wikify.
+
-
:*Second, is all the other namespaces—MeritBadgeDotOrg (the "project" namespace), Templates, Help, Category, Image and, of course, User
+
-

+
-
:I'm sure, being an experienced Wikipedian, you're already aware of all this. But, I'm writing it out so others can benefit from our conversation, as well. So, the question is... "What do you like to do?" I, personally, like to work on the administrative/maintenance stuff... I figure there's plenty of folks who would rather work on building up the Scouting articles, anyhow.
+
-

+
-
:I'm going to put up some collaboration pages later this evening, and will probably copy part of this over to the Community portal, as well. Thanks for asking. I'll add to my reply some more later. I'm seeing some inconsistency (and I'm sure I'm contributing to it ;-)) with what goes where. Do *ALL* external links go under that section? Personally, I love the worksheets for the boys. While they're not the be-all, end-all, they provide a good framework for those who have difficulty getting started. I'm willing to go through and put the links on each MB page, if you give me the direction (link to which of them??) and the go-ahead. The search text box is located waaaaay down the sidebar. I think we can bring that search box up a bit more by removing the 2nd level indentation found in both navigation and jump page side bar. (thus removing the 2nd line feed for each 2nd-level indentation). Egberts 05:36, January 23, 2008 (EST)

Hi, I'm designing a website for my Troop. Many scouts in my troop complain about how they can never find MeritBadge.org. I don't know how this is because you type in MeritBadge.org and it pops you up in the wiki. But, I have decided to add a banner on the front page of our site and with the program I am using it requires client information for who the banner will link to and don't know who to put down for this. From what I have read in the external links policy this should be acceptable. I know our merit badge counselers use this site religiously for up-to-date merit badge requirements so I am also going to put in direct links to the merit badges we are working on at any given time for the scouts. Thanks for your time.--Wakleon 21:57, January 24, 2008 (EST)

Hi RW, just thought I'd offer my help to you as a frequent user of Wikipedia. I have over 1000 edits on WP and have helped to quell numerous edit wars. I am very familiar with the Wiki format and I believe I'd be able to help with the prevention of vandalism as well as an asset to new, inexperienced users. I am an assistant scoutmaster with BSA T352 and and Eagle Scout, so I'd like to consider helping this web page as my "good turn daily" :-). Let me know what you think either on my talk page or here (I'll add it to my watch list). Thanks! ::Sounds good. I apologize for not being active... It was junior year in high school so I had to work really hard to get my GPA up. I added some links and all on a few merit badge pages, and as I do more I'll add in links as I go along. I'm really looking forward to getting active with this site again! I'm going to Sea Base, Woodruff Scout Reservation, and Northern Tier this summer, so I'll be able to post stuff about them as well. --Swim4lyfe 16:46, April 16, 2008 (EDT)

Hello, welcome to my talk page!

If you want to leave a message, please do so at the bottom and using headings, for better formatting. You can do this by simply pressing the plus sign (+) on the top of this page. Don't forget to enter a relevant topic at the beginning of your post; and, please, always sign your messages posted in here by typing four tildes, like this, ~~~~ at the end of your posts.

Attention: Wikipedians, like everybody else, dislike fragmented discussions. So:

 • If you leave a comment for me, I will most likely respond to it in here, in this same page, on my talk page, as an effort to keep the entire conversation in one place.
 • By the same token, if I leave a comment on your talk page, always feel free to respond to it there, on your talk page.

Remember, we can each (individually) use our watchlists to keep track of when responses are made. Also, feel free to leave me an alert on this page about a comment you have left elsewhere that you want me to check out. Thank you! --RWSmith 04:31, April 6, 2007 (EDT)
