Boy Scout rank advancement
The Varsity Scout advancement follows the same rank requirements to Eagle and Eagle Palms as those for Boy Scouts. The Varsity Scout Team Coach will conduct a Coach conference. (See "Scoutmaster Conferences". p. 25.)
As the Varsity Scout meets the requirements for each rank, a board of review is conducted by the team committee advancement chair, the Advancement Program Manager, and the team coach for all ranks except Eagle Scout. The Eagle Scout board of review follows the procedure established by the local council.
Varsity Scout advancement awards
Supplementing his advancement towards Eagle Scout rank, a Varsity Scout is also eligible for the additional advancement opportunity of earning the Denali Award.
Varsity Letter
The Varsity Scout letter V-emblem is awarded to team members who participate high-adventure or sports program features and are preceded by training or practice sessions. Activities are planned by the youth high-adventure/sports program manager; participation may also result in the team member receiving a Varsity Scout activity pin for the V-emblem. Varsity Scout letter bar pins are awarded for subsequently completed high-adventure or sports program features.
Denali Award
The Denali Award is the highest award in Varsity Scouting. Varsity Scouts must earn at least one Varsity Letter, and serve as program manager (a position of responsibility), acting as primary leader in at least two of the fields of emphasis and participating in the remaining three fields.
