The Venturing Award is the first Venturing program level award similar to the Scout badge joining requirements. The first step in any journey is the courage to begin. At this level, the new crew member makes their commitment to join and move forward into the experience of Venturing.

Venturing Award requirements

The Venturing Award appears to have contradictory requirements that are simultaneously published by BSA national. This article will be updated when the 2014 Handbook for Venturers is available.

From 2014 Program Updates: ALPS Program Model and Requirements. 220-855, 2014 Printing

  1. Participate in a crew activity outside of a crew meeting.
  2. Participate in an interview conducted by your crew president and your Advisor.
  3. Complete Personal Safety Awareness training.
  4. State intention to join the crew during a crew induction ceremony.

  1. Participate in a crew activity outside of a crew meeting.
  2. Participate in an interview conducted by your crew president and your Advisor.
  3. State intention to join the crew during crew induction ceremony.
  4. State your intention to join the crew by participating in an induction ceremony, during which you repeat and commit to live by the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, and the Venturing motto: Lead the Adventure.

Notes

Program level awards may be earned after May 2014; Venturers joining after this time begin with the Venturing Award. Venturers registered before May 2014 begin with the Discovery Award.
